In case you haven’t heard, something special is going on at La Vuelta a Espana bike race. Only 6 weeks ago, Alberto Contador, considered by many as the best cyclist in the world today, crashed during the Tour de France and suffered a broken shin bone and an announcement was made that he’d miss La Vuelta in his home country. Only a month later, Contador posted a video announcing to his fans that he was planning to compete.
Just yesterday during stage 10, Contador moved into the red jersey position as the overall leader by 27 seconds heading into stage 11, a grueling 153.4km stage from Pamplona to Santuario De San Miguel De Aralar. Today Contador maintained his lead although he lost 7 seconds and now has a 20-second lead heading into stage 12.
