PROBAR for the Holidays

My in-laws are awesome. Yes, imagine that, I’m one of the lucky bunch who ended up with likeable loveable in laws.

One of their annual traditions this time of the year is to host a contest from Thanksgiving to New Years to see who can lose the most weight. At the end of the contest the family goes out for dinner with the winner being treated to a free meal. Last year my sister-in-law Cristy won by losing 4 pounds. 4 pounds doesn’t seem like much?

Try this on for size. Although conventional thought says that we gain 3-5 pounds during this time of year recent studies have concluded that on average people gain 1 pound during the holidays. But it gets worse since the New England Journal of Medicine reports that most of us don’t ever lose that pound. Those who are over weight will gain more than one pound and are also not likely to lose those happy holiday pounds.

I’m not sure what you’re going to do this season but aside from an increased frequency in my workout schedule during the holidays I’m substituting a meal each day with a PROBAR.

For the office challenge, when all the co-workers seem to shower the break room with cookies, chocolates and more I’m going to use PROBAR’s to snack on throughout the day. I’ve found that nibbling on a PROBAR throughout the day or even half a bar one day, saving the rest for the next day by folding over the generous packaging that I’m able to eat right while keeping the cravings for sweets at bay.

So good luck this holiday season in eating right and wish me luck with the contest. If you’ve got any ideas or things that have helped you to keep the weight off during the holidays or to eat right when the temptation to snack on goodies seems greater than ever, please share this with the community by commenting below.
