Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with PROBAR

Finding PROBAR was obviously fate for customer David Huck. Check out his story and decide for yourself.

After hiking the John Muir Trail in August 2007 me and two of my good friends from Vermont were hitchhiking back on Hwy 395. We met an old man who shared some lemon bars made with pork fat. They were filling, but tasted vaguely of chemicals. Yum.

Then we landed at the Tuolumne Store where lo and behold the hiker barrel had a banana and a Koka Moka PROBAR in it. The rest of the day we drank copious quantities of water driving down through the “valley of the devil” (central valley) as my friend called it. One of us had to ride in the back of the pickup and it was just unbelievably hot in there.

Finally we stopped for a break, and starving, opened the PROBARS. WOW. I was expecting half-ass energy bar nourishment. This felt vital. Like real food. Had we had these on the trail they probably would’ve been the best food we had all trip.

Even eaten afterwards they were still vying for first with tuna pasta and black bean burritos. I’m planning on hiking the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) this summer, and PROBAR will be a big part of it.

Good luck on that tremendous adventure David! Let us know how the hike goes.
