As you likely know, PROBAR unveiled the new Sweet and Savory line at Expo West. While we received a lot of kudos and compliments at the show we found this in the Your PROBAR Story inbox from new customer Rich Ahrens of Naples, Florida. He was lucky enough to try the new bars at Expo West and gives us a glimpse of what it’s like at the show.
Walking around the massive exhibition hall last month at Natural Products Expo West, I felt as though all I saw was nutrition bar after nutrition bar and I had no food in my belly. I accepted free samples with pleasure at first and later out of necessity when I realized everything I was getting tasted either like cardboard or compressed sawdust. Somehow I missed the PROBAR booth that day and left the show with a heavy stomach full of garbage and strange tasting juices.
The next day was Saturday so I convinced my brother to take in a half day at the show before we drove to Joshua Tree National Forest for some gorgeous scenery.
I raised a sample to my mouth hoping not to spoil my anticipated lunch at In-N-Out Burger. It didn’t look like the other bars with big chunks of stuff that were obviously the real deal…I sampled, and sampled, and sampled (no burgers today!)
We were spent from the previous day when we even entered the show but there was still ground left to cover. When we hit the wall at around 2PM I decided to zigzag out just in case there was something interesting to see. I dove into a restroom to be sure I could make the 2 hour drive to Joshua and found my brother at the PROBAR booth.
Thinking I would grab him and bolt, he introduced me to Art and convinced me to give nutrition bars a last try. Hesitatingly I raised a sample to my mouth hoping not to spoil my anticipated lunch at In & Out Burger. It didn’t look like the other bars with big chunks of stuff that were obviously the real deal and it sure didn’t taste like the others either.
While Don and Art talked, I sampled, and sampled, and sampled (no burgers today!). As we left and Art noted my enthusiasm, he handed me two whole bars for the road. I stuffed them into my day pack and we escaped the madness. LA traffic kept us from getting out to Joshua Tree but we did make the LA hills and that beats Anaheim any time.
That night I climbed aboard my red-eye flight for the east coast. When my connecting flight landed in Atlanta and I raced for the gate being quite late getting there, I had no time to search for a decent breakfast.
On the plane I politely declined the really strange burrito and opted instead to grab my pack overhead and the remaining PROBAR. I don’t know for sure it they taste even better at 30,000 feet, but man, that Art’s Original was just what I needed to feel better and to fill me right.
Now I’m on a search for a local vendor to carry my favorite meal replacement.
Right on Rich! That’s an awesome story. Like you, I take advantage of any In-N-Out Burger encounter that I happen to have but I’m glad to hear that the bars were up to the challenge.
Be sure to check out our store locater to find the nearest location to where you are there in Naples.
Each customer whose “Your PROBAR Story” is published here on the blog will receive a Seventh Heaven Pack which is one PROBAR of each of the original flavors. We love to hear from our customers about their PROBAR story so if you’ve got one share it with us.
