Jessica Steffens
Jessica was born and raised in Northern California as the oldest of four. Two of her siblings are still competing in the pool, including her youngest sister, Maggie, who will be competing on the National Team with her this summer. Beginning as a swimmer and soccer player created a great blend for her future in water polo, a combination of basketball, wrestling, soccer…well a lot of sports! In high school she tried water polo and never looked back. Stanford provided an amazing platform for sport improvement and Jessica eventually took off a year from school to train for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Her silver medal earned at the Olympics is accompanied by gold in the 2009 Rome World Championships. This summer she will be returning to competition after a year recovery from a sport related shoulder injury.
Why I use and love PROBAR:
Every athlete knows how important nutrition is. We cannot train at our highest level without replenishing the calories we use. PROBAR is a great post-practice bar as it staves off my hunger until I can get home to prepare a meal. Some days I have to go from practice straight to physical therapy and then back to practice again. Yes, I make sandwiches, but I always need more. Even if I wolf down a PROBAR right before practice, it doesn’t give me stomachaches, which is huge for us in the pool!
But let’s be honest, I’ve tried a lot of different snacks, bars, etc. and the only ones I continue using are the ones that taste good. PROBAR still amazes me every time I try a new flavor. I’m a pretty picky eater and I have yet to find a flavor that I don’t like. It is so comforting to have a great-tasting, healthy bar that I can travel with around the world.
