Team Tinkoff-Saxo has had an eventful and successful 2014, and it’s been PROBAR’s pleasure to fuel their efforts from the Tour de France forward with our Non-GMO food products. Despite losing Alberto Contador to a crash in the Tour, the team rallied and Rafal Majka emerged to win two important stages of the Tour de France and the coveted polka dot jersey as “King of the Mountains.”
After a spectacular Tour de France, Rafal went on to race in the Tour de Pologne, a multi-day stage race in Rafal’s home country of Poland. Majka won several stages and was able to clinch the win on his home turf.
During the US PRO Challenge in Colorado, we caught up with Rafal to talk about how he enjoys PROBAR products. “Strawberry Fuel is perfect,” he said.
Mick Rogers, veteran cyclist and World Time Trial Champion, has been an anchor for the Tinkoff-Saxo Team. Earlier in the year, he took two stages in the prestigious Giro D’Italia and was later victorious in the Tour De France, winning Stage 16.
In Colorado, Rogers said he prefers eating PROBAR Meal™ at the beginning of a long stage and then likes to use PROBAR BOLT™ in the last half of the race. While talking about PROBAR BOLT™, Rogers said he “looks forward to these… something sweet, nice and soft, and easy to get down.” Check out the video below for his thoughts on using PROBAR products while racing.
Following Tinkoff-Saxo’s successful Tour de Pologne, Alberto Contador rejoined the team after an incredible recovery from his Tour de France crash to race the Vuelta de Espana. He delighted everyone by riding strong, winning stages, and taking the red jersey during the 10th Stage of the race. He held on for the win and beat his Tour de France rival, Chris Froome.
Late this year, Tinkoff-Saxo signed top tier talent, including Peter Sagaan—the Green Jersey winner of the 2013 Tour de France. 2015 looks to be a strong year for one of the best cycling teams in the world, and we’re been honored to partner with Tinkoff-Saxo to provide the riders with our Non-GMO Project Verified products.
