Known to be one of the first condiments as well as one of the first edible oils, the sesame seed goes back in history a long ways.  In fact, there is an Assyrian myth that claims the gods drank sesame wine the night before creating the world.  That’s a powerful seed!

Sesame seeds are a tiny and versatile seed packed with nutrition.  Let’s take a look into what this little seed can do:

– Gluten-Free
- Rich in minerals – copper, manganese, calcium but also contains zinc and phosphorus
- Lots and lots of fiber
– High in protein
– contains phytosterols, compounds found in plants that are believed to reduce blood levels of cholesterol, enhance the immune response and decrease risk of certain cancers
