Salt Lake City, UT – April 1, 2009 – PROBAR®, LLC has announced that their products are NOT affected by the recent pistachio recall to hit the news wire. PROBAR® makes and distributes a variety of whole food, meal replacement bars, including a Cocoa Pistachio bar. However, PROBAR® does not receive their pistachios from the affected company, Setton Pistachio.
“Our products are not impacted in anyway by this recall,” states PROBAR® president Jules Lambert. “We have been receiving our pistachios from Nichols Farms and the company experiencing the recall is Setton Pistachio. There is no relation between these companies and their crops are separated by 250 miles.”
A statement was released by the US Food and Drug Administration on Monday, March 30 which issued a voluntary recall affecting certain bulk roasted in shell and roasted shelled pistachios shipped on or after September 1, 2008. The company, Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, based in Terra Bella, Calif., decided to recall its 2008 crop after one of its customers, Kraft Foods, found several types of salmonella during routine analysis of the product. Kraft Foods alerted the Food and Drug Administration of its findings on March 24.
